And last night Vanessa Feltz showed off the results of the operation as she slipped into a little white dress for the London premiere of The Devil's Double.

The 49-year-old presenter displayed her noticeably slimmed down figure, as well as a deep golden tan, as she and fiancé Ofoedu arrived for the event in Leicester Square.

New figure: Vanessa Feltz displayed the results of her gastric band surgery as she slipped into a little white dress for the premiere of The Devil's Double in London last night. She has gone from a size 24  to a 14;

Vanessa underwent the £4,000 operation in Belgium last June after a surgeon relative recommended it.

However, the mother-of-two admitted in December the results of having the operation had been slower than she had hoped.

She said: 'I think I had this fantasy that the weight would drop off magically, but actually it was slower than I expected. It's going in the right direction though.'

Vanessa wasn't the only one to opt for a white dress at last night's premiere.

Cooper said: 'Getting into the mind set was very hard because I despised Uday and I could find no redeeming quality, so it was about understanding what made that man the way he was.

He admitted he had lost ‘his dear love’ speaking out about Amy Winehouse’s tragic death.

But it has now been claimed that Reg Traviss proposed to the Back To Black singer and they were secretly engaged.

Reg, 35, presented Amy, 27, with a diamond ring and she accepted his proposal, The Sun has reported.

A source told the paper: ‘Reg asked Amy and of course she said “Yes”. She loved him.’

The reasons for Amy's death are unclear, with her father telling mourners she had battled her drink and drugs problems, and the family are faced with a possible three week wait for toxicology reports.

Today though, the Queen's granddaughter put aside her more outlandish image and transformed into a quintessential English bride.

The blushing bride chose a full-skirted gown with a row of covered buttons, a cathedral-length veil and wore her mother's Greek key tiara to complete the elegant look;

Picture of perfection: The short train and ivory silk was a traditional and demure choice for her big day;

It was expected that Zara would wear a traditional gown - more classically beautiful and less high fashion that Catherine Middleton's Sarah Burton gown - and she did not disappoint.

The full gown was created in ivory duchess silk and softly ribbed faille, the skirt given volume with acres of stiff lace beneath. The corseted bodice of the gown ending in dramatic pleats on its dropped waist and sculpted the bride's slim figure, giving a dramatic bell-shaped silhouette.

The epitome of elegance: With silk tulle straps, a full skirt and a cathedral length veil, Zara looked gorgeous;

Rather than the cropped jacket Zara was tipped to wear, she gave the gown the more demure touch that the royal occasion demanded with gathered silk tulle straps that formed a V-shape at the back of the gown. 
Bias-cut raw-edged ribbons in silk faille and duchesse satin decorated the neckline and empire seam below the bust and finished the hem of the dress. The full skirt featured concealed pockets.

STEWART PARVIN: BY ROYAL APPOINTMENT

He's the Queen's couturier and a trusted member of the royal staff. And now the youngest of Her Majesty's designers has added another royal to his client list, as it was announced today he was the man behind Zara Phillips' wedding dress.
Trained at the Edinburgh College of Art, Stewart Parvin has designed for the Queen since 2000 and was awarded Royal appointment in 2007. Over the past 11 years has created many outfits for the monarch for important state visits, race meets and formal events.
The Queen wore a white Stewart Parvin dress when she received the Obamas at Buckingham Palace earlier this year and often wears his designs to race meets.
Zara's mother Princess Anne is also a fan of his neat tailoring.
In addition to his royal appointment, Mr Parvin presents two fashion colelctions a year, one bridal collection, and runs a bridal couturier, offering a personal design service from £7,000.

Zara's hair and make up beneath that statement veil were simple and natural.

A girl after her mother's heart, Zara is a creature of habit when it comes to her hair, and today was no exception.
She wore her hair as she usually does for formal events - in a classic French twist - which she had created by Evangelos Tsiapkinis from the Mayfair salon MichaelJohn.

In her feet were the number one choice of shoe for so many brides: ivory Jimmy Choos.

Zara is said to have chosen the Stewart Parvin gown from wedding boutique White Room in Minchinhampton.

The designer, who christens his dresses with such romantic names as Easy To Love and I've Got a Crush On You, seemed to have hit the mark today, as Zara appeared relaxed and happy - surely the goal of any bride on her big day.

Stewart Parvin was also behind the Queen's dress.

The three young bridesmaids wore white - echoing the bridesmaids at the wedding of Catherine and WIlliam - and the full-skirted dresses cinched with pale china blue ribbon featured columns of covered buttons running down the back, reminiscent of the detailing on the back of Pippa Middleton's now iconic bridesmaid dress.

Mother-of-the-bride Princess Anne performed impeccably from a style point of view, wearing a swishy coral pleated skirt with a vintage-inspired cropped jacket (knowing thrifty Anne, it could well really be vintage), its floral print adding the right amount of levity to the neat tailoring.

When it comes to sex, there’s no other month like August.

Lingerie retailer Ann Summers reported a 40 per cent rise in sales last August as shoppers took advantage of the holiday period to boost their sex lives.
Meanwhile, researchers from Boston State Hospital in the U.S. have found that summer sun at least doubles levels of the sex hormone testosterone, boosting a flagging libido.

More fertile: The amount of sex you have is important. The more often you make love, the better quality your sperm will be;

This is thought to be because the sun’s rays trigger vitamin D production, which in turn boosts production of the hormone.
And if another excuse is needed, it’s well known that sex burns calories — just this week a survey found that 87 per cent of women named sex as their favourite way to exercise (shopping came second).

But there are many other benefits, too. Here some of the country’s leading experts reveal some little-known facts about why sex is good for your health.

IT’S A GOOD WAY TO TEST YOUR EYES

Sex relaxes the muscles and alleviates neck and shoulder tension, says Dr Arun Ghosh, a GP specialising in sexual health at the Spire Liverpool Hospital. And surprisingly, it might also tell you whether you need glasses.

‘I’ve had patients complain of poor vision after sex. What’s happened is that, like all the other muscles in the body, their eye muscles have relaxed and are performing at their true ability, rather than straining and squinting as they would normally.’

So if your sight goes blurry after sex, it’s worth going for an eye test.

IT PROTECTS AGAINST HEART DISEASE

Having sex three times a week could halve the risk of heart attack or stroke;

Sex can have a protective effect on the heart. A study at Queen’s University in Belfast found that having sex three times a week could halve the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Another study in Israel found that women who had two orgasms a week were up to 30 per cent less likely to have heart disease than those who didn’t enjoy sex or didn’t orgasm.
Dr Lisa Turner, a sex and relationship therapist, says: ‘One theory is that these women may have felt depressed, which has been linked with an increased risk of a heart attack.

'The endorphins released during sex also neutralise the stress hormones in the body, which are linked to heart disease.’

And the old cliche of sex causing heart attacks?

‘It’s a very low risk — it accounts for less than 1 per cent of all deaths,’ says Dr Graham Jackson, consultant cardiologist at the London Bridge Hospital and chairman of the Sexual Advice Association.
However, if you’re over 50, overweight and unfit, there is a risk to your heart — just as there would be if you suddenly and vigorously took up any form of exercise.

‘What also increases the risk is extra-marital affairs, and this has been proven by three large studies,’ says Dr Jackson.

‘In fact, this accounts for 75 per cent of heart-related deaths from sex, 90 per cent of which are older men. It’s thought the combination of high-fat foods and alcohol — wining and dining — combined with vigorous exercise, often with a younger partner, is what tends to trigger the heart event.’

IT’LL STRENGTHEN YOUR BONES

U.S. research found menopausal women who had sex every week had oestrogen levels twice as high as their abstaining counterparts.

The hormone has a protective effect in bone health and a lack of it after the menopause has been linked with osteoporosis.

‘Regular sex increases the production of oestrogen,’ says Dr Peter Bowen-Simpkins of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. 

IT MAKES YOU MORE FERTILE

‘I’m often asked whether penis length affects fertility and the good news is no,’ says Dr Ghosh.

But the amount of sex you have is important. The more often you make love, the better quality your sperm will be.

‘If you’re trying to conceive, you need the sperm to be as fresh as possible — not stuff that’s been sitting in the prostate for three or four days,’ he adds.

IT STAVES OFF PROSTATE CANCER

Researchers at Nottingham University have found that men who enjoy a regular sex life in their 50s are at lower risk of developing prostate cancer. ‘Clearing the prostate out regularly is the reason behind this,’ says Dr Ghosh.

‘The link was suggested after research showed that monks appear to have a higher chance of developing prostate cancer.’

IT’LL HELP YOU QUIT SMOKING

Here's a simple way to get your man to kick his smoking habit — remind him that it causes the penis to shrink and can cause impotence.

Erections are all about good blood flow, and lighting up worsens blood flow to the spongy tissues in the penis, says Raj Persad, consultant urological surgeon at Bristol Royal Infirmary.
‘As a result, they become starved of oxygen and the delicate cells die away. They then become fibrotic — forming scar tissue — which is less elastic and less able to expand during an erection than regular healthy tissue.’

Smoking is also a known cause of erectile dysfunction as it causes hardening of the arteries and hampers good blood flow.

A study of more 7,000 Chinese men, published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, found that the more cigarettes smoked a day, the higher the risk of impotence.

IT’S A NATURAL SEDATIVE

For a man, a powerful orgasm is the equivalent of having a 2-3mg shot of diazepam (or Valium), says Dr Ghosh.

A dangerous sex offender whose claim for asylum was thrown out eight years ago is still living in Britain – and costing the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Sarafa Salami, 48, was sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life after his attack on a 21-year-old student in 2005, two years after he should have left the country.
Described on his files as a ‘risk to women and children’, Salami was ordered to be deported on his release from prison in 2009.

But the West African remains in the UK as he has fathered two children and claims his human right to a family life would be violated if he is sent back to his native Togo.

The revelations make a mockery of the Government’s promise to deport all foreign criminals convicted of serious offences.
Salami’s children are understood to both be under ten and live in Liverpool – where he carried out his sex attack in 2005.
He lives above a hair salon in West Drayton, West London, in an £800-a-month studio flat next door to a busy pub.

He also receives £160 a month in food vouchers.
A resident said: ‘To know there is a sex attacker living a few hundred yards away is quite frightening.
‘It beggars belief that his human rights are being looked after. What about those of his victim and the risk he poses to women who live and work nearby?’
Another neighbour told the Mail: ‘I am disgusted to learn he is a sex offender. He said he had spent time inside for fraud but not this.
‘He regularly brings women back to his room. I’m sure they have no idea of his background.’

Student: Salami was studying in Liverpool when he was convicted of a sexual offence;

Salami arrived in Britain in 2000. After his claim for asylum was thown out in 2003, he was supposed to leave but failed to do so and re-applied after fathering two children.

In December 2005 he was a student at Liverpool John Moores University and working part-time for a cleaning company.
After a night out, a student who worked for the same company was drunk and went with a friend and Salami to a taxi rank in Liverpool city centre.

Her friend got a cab and he assured her he would get a taxi for the other woman.

Instead she found herself at a house in Toxteth where he attacked her. He was convicted of sexual assault and cleared of a count of rape.

Leaked files from the UK Border Agency reveal a decade of failed attempts to send him home.
In that time he is estimated to have cost hundreds of thousands of pounds in accommodation, legal costs, police time, benefits and visits by immigration officials.
His file states that on arrival in 2000, he ‘requests self-catering accommodation due to his special dietary needs ... He would also like to be placed near a hospital due to the potential need for an operation/hospital treatment.

‘He would also like to have English classes and so requests that there is a college nearby. Finally, he needs to be near a mosque for religious reasons’.

A note the next month says: ‘Oblige request if possible.’

He was given a flat in Liverpool while his application was considered.

His case was thrown out but he re-applied and fathered two children. This time, he was successful. 
His right to remain was revoked when he was convicted of the sex attack.

Released from prison in 2009 he should have been deported, but was freed and remains here.

At his London flat, which he called ‘a little prison’, Salami claimed he was wrongly convicted, adding: ‘There’s no law in this country for a foreign person.’
This weekend another case of a foreign criminal avoiding deportation came to light.
Tarique Manahod, 33, was jailed for 15 months in 2005 and ordered to be deported – but remains in Britain because the Algerian consulate did not accept he was an Algerian citizen.

A UK Border Agency spokesman said: ‘These cases have appalling immigration and criminal records and we are committed to removing them from the UK.
‘This government is determined to remove foreign criminals from the UK and does not believe that Article 8 Right to family life should outweigh serious criminality in such cases.
‘The UK Border Agency has introduced tough new procedures to remove foreign criminals from the country.
