* YOU BEEN SNAP * THE COLOUR BLOCK PARTY KWELI KWELI : Statement hues ruled at 'fashion Oscars'While Jessica Alba's DVF number received mixed reviews, there was no denying that bright and bold was the trend of the moment"

If ever there was a place to pick up a trend, it would be the CFDAs, and last night's event certainly didn't disappoint.
Block colours were the order of the day, with every top model and designer worth their fashion cred working a bold, bright hue.
Orange was a particular favourite, teamed with purple by Jessica Alba in her Diane von Furstenberg gown. Designer Lubov Azria and model Zuzanna Bijoch went for the same colour.

Boldly going: Jessica Alba wore an orange and purple DVF creation to the CFDAs last night - a perfect example of the colour block trend. But the clashing hues failed to impress everyone"
But that was no where it ended. Chanel Iman dazzled in turquoise blue, Doutzen Kroes looked ravishing in scarlet and Leigh Lezark pulled off a challenging mustard shade.

The look was a favourite with designers too. J Crew's Jenna Lyons arrived in a bright green sequin skirt, while Cynthia Rowley turned heads in a vibrant yellow skirt.
Beauty heiress Aerin Lauder also chose yellow, teaming her neon top with a black skirt, as did actress Emmanuelle Chriqu.

Of course it was the supermodels who pulled  the look off to greatest effect. Only someone with the knockout body of French-Tunisian model Kenza Fourati could have worn her bright blue Marc Bouwer to such great effect.
And Karlie Kloss made Michelle Obama favourite Jason Wu pround in his red belted gown.
But it's never all good news, and even where fashion awards are concerned, there can be some faux pas. Poor Maggie Rizer, despite her supermodel pins, made an ill choice in a shiny blue metallic Nicole Miller minidress.

This year's CFDAs saw Marc Jacobs honoured with a lifetime achievement award, while Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler took home the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award.
Lady Gaga - who incidentally took the colour-block look to her tresses in a bright blue wig - was given the Fashion Icon Awards, while industry favourites Alexander Wang and Phoebe Philo also took home major prizes.
