China has blocked Google on several occasions since 2002, citing reasons such as a desire to prevent access to online pornographic material. However, it has been suggested by some that the superpower is attempting to restrict the flow of anti-government material into the mainland.
At one point, Google threatened to halt its Chinese operations altogether. The search engine is currently active in China but, with the country recently forced to issue vehement denials that its officials have been hacking into Gmail accounts, could we see another block anytime soon?
