A 15-year-old girl was charged with the murder of a seven-year-old girl in York. Katie Rough (pictured) was found bleeding to death around 90 minutes after she finished primary school at 3pm on Monday. Her mother Alison Rough (centre), 38, collapsed and cried: 'No, no, it's my little girl.' Katie was taken to hospital but died a short time later. Less than a fortnight earlier, she had been a bridesmaid at her mother's wedding (far left and centre). Police charged the 15-year-old with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

 She will appear before magistrates in York at 10am today. Dog walkers are believed to have come across Katie lying on the grass just yards from a quiet cul-de-sac in York at 4.30pm on Monday. Witnesses gave traumatic accounts of how Katie's parents, Alison, 38, and her new husband Paul, 34 were quickly on the scene and watched in horror as the emergency services fought in vain to save their daughter. They said Mrs Rough shouted 'she's killed her' while her husband was slumped against a wall in despair.

Forensic teams remained at the scene for most of yesterday. Officers were seen at a house believed to belong to the family of the girl who was killed

Another resident of the street said: 'I arrived in my car behind the mother. I wasn't quite sure what was going on, it wasn't until I spoke to the police that I found out.

'The mother was on her knees in the middle of the road, crying and saying things. It was quite distressing.' 

Two police vans were parked outside a house belonging to Katie's family. 

Mrs Rough has three older children from a previous relationship and Mr Rough is a father-of-two.

They had been in a relationship for years but only married in the local registry office on December 28, 2016.

Katie's aunt Sarah Nockels, 37, said: 'We are all just absolutely devastated. We just need to be given time to grieve.'

Naomi Campbell stepped out in Los Angeles on Friday evening for dinner at Catch restaurant, and was immediately accosted by autograph-hungry fans.

And the gracious beauty obliged by stopping and signing a few pieces of paper for her revelers, looking as classic as ever.

The star wore a midnight blue velvet ensemble, which hung gracefully off her slight frame, and added to the sleek look by wearing her glossy raven tresses to trickle down past her shoulders, straightened to perfection.

She finished the look with an intricate headpiece of shiny black jewels and a copper chain that ran along her centre-parting.

The exotically regal look was competed with a splash of crimson on her pouty lips. 

The 46-year-old supermodel has been doing the rounds in LA during her time in the states, and has appeared on US TV to discuss matters surrounding George Michael's untimely death and Kim Kardashian's Parisian robbery.

'I sympathise with [Kardashian] a lot,' she told talk show host Wendy Williams. 'In 2012 I was attacked in Paris. They followed me from the airport. They attacked me.

'They opened my car door and said, "Naomi Campbell, we're going to kill you!"'

Unlike Kardashian, Campbell kept the ins and outs of her ordeal out of the press, and has opted to remain private about what exactly took place.

But with the similarities between the two incidents - both being in Paris, both being with high-profile people, both involving death threats - Campbell clearly felt the desire to share.

At the time of the attack, Campbell was travelling to Azzedine Alaïa’s house - who is a designer - for a dinner.

The robbers approached the model outside Alaïa’s shop - which is connected to his home - and it transpires her driver was in on it.

The employees at Alaïa’s store eventually saved her, but not before Campbell stood her ground.

Despite the death threats, the feisty star revealed that adrenaline made her fight against the would-be thieves.

'You decide in a very split moment "am I going to let this guy take my bag with all my passports, or am I going to fight for it?" And my decision was, I am not letting my bag go.'

She elaborated also on the organised crime in Paris that she feels both she and Kardashian were subjected to.

'It’s a whole ring that’s been happening for a few years now, so I very much sympathize with [Kardashian] and I felt for her right away,' Campbell added.

Following Kardashian's incident - which took place in October - rumours began to circulate that it had been a PR stunt.

'I hated hearing these stories that it wasn’t true,' Campbell said. 'It was absolutely true and it happened to me and it’s happened to a few other people.'

The Queen is expected to make her first appearance at Sandringham tomorrow after being struck down with a heavy cold over Christmas.

The 90-year-old monarch broke protocol for the first time ever when she decided not to attend both her traditional Christmas and New Year's church services.

However, it is now believed that the Queen is feeling better and will attend a Sunday service tomorrow at St Mary Magdalene Church on her Norfolk Estate.

Buckingham Palace has refused to comment on the rumours and said the Queen's appearance will be confirmed after 9.30am tomorrow.

Such was the intensity of her condition over the festive period that the monarch delayed her annual trip to Sandringham for the holidays.

She traveled one day later than planned and used a helicopter rather than a train to shorten the travel time.

Prince Philip, 95, also suffered from the heavy cold but managed to recover enough to attend the service on New Year's Day.

A hacking cough that can last weeks has hit thousands of people across the country - but doctors say there is nothing they can do to stop it (file photo) 

Dr Clare Gerada, former head of the Royal College of General Practitioners, said doctors are seeing 'a lot of people with a virus more severe than a normal cold, almost a type of bronchitis'.

One of the main symptoms of the virus is a hacking cough, which can take up to three weeks to clear.   

Dr Anna Kuczynska, a GP in Cardiff, told Wales Online: 'In most cases, unless the patient has another underlying chronic condition for example, heart or lung disease or diabetes, there is often nothing the GP can do to help other than recommend resting and drinking plenty of fluids.'

Thousands of people lined the banks of the River Thames in central London to see in the New Year with a spectacular fireworks display

London celebrated the arrival of 2017 in spectacular style with a spectacular fireworks display in front of the London Eye

A total of 12,000 fireworks painted the night sky of London during the Mayor's showcase display on the banks of the River Thames

One million revellers lined the streets of London to watch the spectacular fireworks display (pictured) and celebrate the New Year in style

The spectacular fireworks display started on the stroke of midnight and lit up the night sky in central London

It was the first time where people without tickets were able to view the fireworks from three locations through a 360 degree live feed on the BBC that started at 11.50pm.

This year's feverish countdown also lasted longer than usual - an extra second - as a so-called 'leap second' is introduced to compensate for a slowdown in the Earth's rotation. 

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said he had been concerned 'bearing in mind what happened in Berlin about safety in London', but that it had been a great Christmas.

Wishing everybody a happy new year he added: 'People are optimistic about the future, even people who maybe were down in the dumps about the vote to leave the EU, as Remainers understand that actually now we've got to make a success of it.
