STAY AT HOME SURPRISE

A recent romantic surprise my husband created for me was very simple, but at the same time, something very thoughtful, and exactly what I needed.

I am a stay at home mom, my husband and I have two daughters, aged 3 months, and 2 years. One day last week was a particularly rough one – our youngest hadn’t slept very well the night before, and our two year old had a cold, and as a result, had been having toddler “meltdowns” all day long. My husband knew what a rough day I’d had, and so decided to give me a little pick-me-up.

I went out in the evening with our youngest to run a few errands, while he stayed home with our oldest to put her to bed (this is a common scenario for us on Tuesday evenings). On this particular evening, when I came home, while I got the baby ready for bed and put her to sleep, my husband spent that time cleaning up the kitchen for me (it had been a complete disaster due to the fact that my whole day had been a disaster) and set up a romantic scene in our living room – candles, soft music, massage oil, and a very nice note telling me how much he appreciated what I did, and how he was going to give me a nice back rub to help me feel better.

It was so great to have such a wonderful surprise evening after the rotten day I’d had – it certainly made getting up the next morning to face another day a whole lot easier!
