Marilyn Monroe went down in history when she purred a seductive 'Happy Birthday' to President John F Kennedy back in 1962.
And last night, it was Jennifer Hudson's turn to channel the late film star by singing the song to President Barack Obama, albeit in a much more low key style.
Dressed in a glamorous black strappy mini dress and heels, the 29-year-old Oscar winning actress beamed with delight during the performance at a special Democrat Party fundraiser in Chicago.
Congratulations! Jennifer Hudson smiles broadly as she sings a soulful 'Happy Birthday' to President Barack Obama on stage at a Chicago fundraiser, on the eve of his 50th birthday;
The President, who turns 50-years-old today, seemed equally pleased at the tribute and came on stage, smiling widely as he greeted the crowd.
He then kissed Jennifer on the cheek and clasped her hands in thanks as he stood next to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, his former chief of staff.
Also performing at the Aragon Ballroom, which costs $40,000 to rent, were jazz musician Herbie Hancock and trendy punk rock band OK GO.

Tickets for the fundraising dinner cost an astonishing $35,800 a person. Additional contributions of $50 gained entry to the concert with limited seating with $1,000 donors receiving 'premium' seats.
And those who were prepared to cough up $10,000, were given 'preferred' seating along with the chance to take a photograph with Obama.
The President, who was last night without his wife Michelle, is also hosting a more intimate gathering today for his birthday in the White House Rose Garden.

Iconic: Marilyn Monroe purred a seductive 'Happy Birthday' to President John F Kennedy back in 1962;
Chicago native Jennifer has long been a supporter of President Obama and performed for him at a Beverly Hills Democratic fundraiser back in 2009.
Jennifer's chic outfit today showed off her svelte figure - she famously lost 80lbs since giving birth to baby David Jr, who turns two-years-old next week.
Now a size six, she is also a spokesman for Weight Watchers.
The star next plays Nelsen Mandela's ex-wife Winnie in a film of the same name.
Her performance comes nearly 50 years after Marilyn's seductive number at New York's Madison Square Garden in May 1962.
Following her memorable performance, President Kennedy took to the stage where he joked:'I can now retire from politics after having had Happy Birthday sung to me in such a sweet, wholesome way.'
The performance was one of the legendary movie star's last public appearances - she died in August of the same year of a drugs overdose at her home in Brentwood, Los Angeles.
