    • New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg wants the world to know that while he might have shared a New Year's kiss with Lady Gaga it was nothing compared with the one he got later from his longtime girlfriend Diana Taylor.

The 69-year-old politician and the youthful pop star locked lips shortly after leading a Times Square crowd in a final-minute countdown to midnight.

They made quite a pair: He was in an old-fashioned American-flag sweater; she had her eyes hidden behind a sparkly mask, the Associated Press reports.

The mayor said on Tuesday: 'Lady Gaga is very charming. It was fun.'

When asked about the kiss, Bloomberg added: 'I would be remiss if I didn’t also add to that that the best kiss of the night came after that from Diana.'

Bloomberg described Gaga as 'a young lady,' noting that she's about the same age as his daughter Georgina, who's in her late 20s.

He also said he was surprised when Gaga, who was raised in New York, admitted she was feeling a bit nervous about performing in Times Square.

Bloomberg said: 'I said "why? You perform in front of big crowds all the time." She said, 'Oh yeah, but this is my home".'
