Scotland's Commonwealth Games athletes will open their home competition in a striking combination of light blue and tartan.
The parade uniforms, designed by  internationally known textile designer and artist Jilli Blackwood, were unveiled on Sunday. They will be used during the opening ceremony.

The uniforms are a stark contrast to Team GB's all-white dress for the opening ceremony of London 2012.MBUTA NANGA'' YANI NEVER WEAR KILT WITH UNDERPANTS '''
Sportsmail columnist John Greechan gives his view on the outfits...

Oh dear. Oh my. Like someone’s run an old tin of Export through a loom, then covered a swathe of electric blue — more screaming aquamarine, actually — fabric with wee dots. And what about those brown socks?
If the posh-Jock hosiery, sported yesterday by boyfriend and girlfriend pair Lee Jones and Charline Joiner, was an attempt to tone down the excesses of the tartan and technicolour elements of Team Scotland’s official ‘parade uniform’, it didn’t work.
Different tone: The blue and tartan uniforms are a far cry from Team GB's all-white dress for London 2012

Still, at least they will be able to boost Glasgow 2014’s green credentials at the Opening Ceremony.
If you dimmed the lights dramatically, you’d still spot our lads and lasses. They will be the ones with the bright red faces!
