Queen wants a prince or princess: Queen Latifah revealed to Closer magazine Wednesday that she's keen on becoming a mother; seen above, she attended the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway''
She’s a rapper, singer, Oscar-nominated actress and former talk show host.
But Queen Latifah says she wants to take on her most challenging role yet—that of a mother.
'I’m always thinking about [becoming a mother]. Hopefully one day it will be my blessing,' the 44-year-old told Closer magazine on Wednesday.
Peace and love: The Chicago actress was joined by her rumored girlfriend Eboni Nichols (at left) at the ceremony and were seated next to Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler''
In August the pair shared a kiss on a romantic Italian holiday.
Generosity: The former talk show host served as host of Generosity.org's Night Of Generosity Gala on Friday, where she admitted that she's looking forward to focusing on her personal life following the cancellation of her series''
It was announced last month that The Queen Latifah Show was axed after its second season, and TMZ cited its undoing was attributed to 'ratings and costs,' but the series will continue to air through March 2015.
Speaking about the show being cut, she told The Hollywood Reporter on Friday: 'As I look back on it, I’m in shock at how many people have come on the show, supported the show and all the great things,' the Golden Globe winner, born Dana Elaine Owens said when she served as host at Generosity.org's sixth annual Night Of Generosity gala.
'I’ve been able to spend other people’s money to change people’s lives, which is the best thing to be able to do.'
No longer burdened with the pressures of hosting the program, the Hairspray star said she's shifting her attention to her personal life.
'I'm going to take a little time and focus on Dana,' she said, citing her birth name.
She added: 'Focus on D-love for a minute and then I'll come back out swinging. That's how I do. You know me; I've been here for a while and I'm going to keep going.'
It's not known whether the multi-talented star plans to conceive the child herself or with her rumored partner Eboni Nichols, who was seen by her side Wednesday at the Nobel Peace Prize awards ceremony in Oslo, Norway.
She wore a red dress with a swooping collar, sparking broach and matching silver earrings and bracelets. She added a navy blue shawl that matched the color of her longtime companion's dress and hat with a veil.
Seated behind the couple was Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler. In August the pair shared a kiss on a romantic Italian holiday.
The admission that she desires to be a mother is a rare glance at her personal life. Last year she told USA Today that maintaining her privacy throughout her career in the spotlight is important.
'I know what I'm comfortable with and what I'm not,' she said.
'It's what I feel is private to me and my family and my friends. It's what I share with the public. That's been something I decided a long time ago. It's not a new thing.'
And in an interview with The New York Times in 2008 she revealed that disclosing her sexuality and intimate details about her life is not in the cards.
'I don't have a problem discussing the topic of somebody being gay,' she said. 'But I do have a problem discussing my personal life.'
In 2015 Queen Latifah will play the lead in the HBO biopic Bessie, based on iconic blues singer Bessie Smith.
The film is based on the life story of the chanteuse who rose to fame in the 1920s and '30s, and it also stars Precious Oscar-winner Mo'Nique.
Love, Italian style: In August Queen Latifah and her longtime companion Eboni shared a smooch on a romantic Itanlian holiday on the beach''
