Britain was today bracing itself for another weekend of snow disruption after forecasters said there was a risk of another wintry blast bringing fresh snowfalls.

While temperatures tonight are due to plummet to as low as -13C in some places, the Siberian icy chill is far from over with the big freeze due to last well into the weekend.

Further snowfalls could see Heathrow disrupted and traffic reduced to a snails pace as the great half-term getaway begins this weekend.
