Struggle: Hannah Barrett says she was forced to live off 13p noodles just months before entering the X Factor competition''
'Many an X Factor contestant has gone on the show to escape their troubled lives, but this series, none more so than Hannah Barrett.
Just a few months before the reality show began, the 17-year old soul singer claims she often had less than a £5 to pay for food, forcing her to buy 13p packs of basic instant noodles to survive.
Speaking to the Daily Star on Sunday, Hannah said: 'I was 16 and I was very vulnerable. It was a dark time and really hard to deal with. I had serious financial problems. I didn’t have enough money to eat. It was really hard having to buy my own food at that age.'
There were quite a few times when I’d be down to my last £5. I had to live on instant noodles from Sainsbury’s that cost 13p. That was the hardest time.'
Hannah was forced out of her home when, after the death of her fatherWayne, began arguing with her mother Beryl Kisser.
It wasn't long before the X Factor hopeful moved out of the home in Croydon, into temporary accommodation, and soon after, Beryl was given a police caution for 'smacking' her daughter.
